Welcome Westwood ASL Parents!

I just wanted to take a moment and say thank you for entrusting me with a part in your child's education
this year. I'm looking forward to teaching "our kids" and hope that I can have your support and
involvement as well.

In a moment you will have an opportunity to fill out a "Parent Contact Information" form. I make every
effort to let parents know what we are covering in class and to share teaching/learning experiences
we've had. In addition, there are times when I need to contact you individually about your child's
progress. So, would you please take a moment to fill out the form for me?
(In fact, having you fill out
the form below is part of the students' first graded assignment. *smile*)

At the bottom of the form you'll also see two things that I want to point out:

1) The students are required to sign up for the ASL Forum.
This is the "communication hub" of our class and all of their homework, projects, study aids,
discussion, etc takes place on this forum.
I'd like for the parents to sign up on the forum as well. It
is not required, but it does allow you to see what goes on in the forum.
I even have a special "Parents
Only" section. Be sure to create an account on the forum BEFORE filling out the contact form as I'll
need your username on the contact form. The ASL Forum is located back on the main page, simply
click the "Go Back" button below.

2) We have a FANTASTIC booster club.
During the 2007-2008 school year we had an absolutely FABULOUS group of parents who worked
SO hard to create an ASL Booster Club. One of the four primary objectives of the booster club is to
"encourage the growth and development of a high quality ASL program that compliments and extends
the educational options for young people; actively develops and implements creative avenues that
encourage young people to excel through the ASL program both collectively, and individually." I would
strongly encourage all of you ASL parents to check the "YES" box and be involved with the booster
club. The booster club realizes that many parents want to be involved, but don't have a lot of time.
That's totally ok and they'll work with what you can do.

After you fill out the "Parent Contact Information" form I'll be sending out emails that
cover classroom expectations/rules, my teaching philosophy, booster club news,
upcoming assignments, events you won't want to miss, etc.

One last thing - the form is to be filled out by PARENTS, not by students. Thanks!
